Sierra Vista Hospital Reaches out to Sacramento Loaves & Fishes

For Sierra Vista Hospital, a full-service behavioral healthcare facility, a donation to Sacramento Loaves & Fishes’ Genesis program is one that hits very close to home.  Established July 2001, Genesis is a free mental health program that provides services to homeless adults in the community or to individuals who do not qualify for other Sacramento County Mental Health programs.
Genesis is based on the philosophy of treating the four different but interconnected needs of the human being—mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.  In hopes of giving participants a new beginning in their lives, Genesis offers them a path towards developing a sense of well-being and empowerment through professional counseling and referral services.

Both Loaves & Fishes and Sierra Vista actively reach out to fill the mental health needs of the community through outreach programs, advocacy and counseling.  By fostering an environment of acceptance, compassion and respect, both organizations serve as mental health resources to the greater Sacramento community.
